About Performance Photography

Curt & Becky Newport entered the professional photographic world by offering theatre photography in response to the poor quality and high prices that pervaded the industry several years ago.  By working with several area community theatre groups, dance studios and school districts, we earned a reputation for producing superior image quality in the very challenging environment of stage lighting.  Theatre directors and producers began calling us to photograph their productions, and choreographers who saw our work recruited us to provide similar services for their dance recitals.

Theatre actors began to contact us to produce the headshots they needed for auditions, and our venture into the genre of portrait photography was born.  To compete in this market, we decided to keep overhead costs low by using portable lighting and backdrop equipment that can be quickly setup on location.  Using the world as our backdrop means we can produce images with a creative variety that no studio can match.
